This is a marvellous opportunity to join a growing Underwriting team in the largest Insurance company in the UK. Our organisation is growing significantly; UK business is outstanding, and it all starts with this underwriting team and the long-term relationships we build.

As a Trading Underwriter with Aviva, you’ll provide an incredible service to our customers and brokers. You’ll drive new business and professional relationships, directly contributing to the underwriting profit and loss, trading and service delivery goals.

Our teams are exceptionally customer focused, acting as ambassadors for Aviva in the industry - promoting and growing business at industry and external professional level. This includes renewal and new business, growing accounts, looking after 2 or 3 brokers (with varying account size) while all being a great teammate.

What are the duties & responsibilities?

·  Develop, build and strengthen positive relationships with aligned customers/brokers, providing technical support and dealing with all queries
·  Influence key contacts in the marketplace through business development and customer engagement
·  Understand what matters to customers/brokers to provide the right solution and deliver the best outcomes that reflect the Aviva underwriting strategy and values
·  Plan and manage your own workflow to meet broker demand
·  Understand the purpose and measures of the digital trading system and improve efficiency to eliminate waste for the customer
·  Act as a role model, provide mentoring and share ideas to contribute towards continued capability improvement in our business
·  Identify and implement any required improvements to underwriting quality and capability
·  Manage any customer complaints in line with the agreed process
·  Support management in identifying any breaches or risk events so they can be handled accurately

What skills & experiences are required?

·  Experience of applying underwriting knowledge to effectively improve processes/procedures
·  Robust familiarity interacting and working with brokers
·  Excellent business development/customer engagement skills
·  Someone who takes responsibility for your own underwriting caseload within a regulatory environment, following due process and within set authority limits
·  Good underwriting expertise in a specific area (Property Liability or Motor insurance) is desirable, but strong commercial knowledge is sufficient
·  Written and verbal negotiation skills that are second to none
·  Application of core principles of insurance to everyday situations e.g. advising on the scope of policy cover, risk management strategy, identifying potential claims and arranging insurance that will meet customer needs

·  A salary of circa £35,000 depending on skills, experience and qualifications
