Job Description

Worldline, (an Atos Company), has a long established Transport Operations Service Centre based primarily across three UK locations: Darlington; Beeston and Crewe.

The team develop and support products and projects which are used throughout the Operational Rail market for the planning and operation of train services, resource management and customer information provision.

Within the Service Centre, there is a small team, who are responsible for managing the strategic development of products within the group portfolio. This includes developing the solutions for customer bids and internal R&D proposals and working with Support teams, hosting providers and Internal Strategy teams to ensure that we continue to innovate to keep our products and services at the forefront of the Operational Rail market.

We currently face a significant challenge, as we look to re-develop parts of our existing portfolio to meet emerging demand from Global markets, whilst also refreshing end of life products in the UK. We are looking for a Solution Architect to join this team, to work on this multi-year programme to take the next generation of our products into the global rail marketplace, taking the lead on developing strategies and plans for migration to a new product set, and leading the technical elements of the delivery project.

This is a challenging and varied role, working with existing products and technologies and helping to shape the design and delivery of new/refreshed products working with the UK CTO approved Technology. You will work as part of an established team, with a proven track record of delivering solutions in the UK.

This particular role has arisen due to a resignation, and comes at a time when we are facing a strong pipeline of existing work supplemented by the new opportunities opened up by the Global organisation of Worldline.

Responsibilities:

· Work as part of a team, designing technical solutions for new products into the Operational Rail market
· Maintain a product architectural roadmap in line with company strategy, and manage the compliance of products against the roadmap
· Join project teams developing new projects in the role of Solution Architect, assuring that the design and delivery of the project successfully achieves the required architecture
· Work with hosting providers, third parties and external teams (e.g. Atos India) to ensure that all parties align successfully to deliver solutions to clients
· Work with other groups to ensure that Transport Operations products and strategies are complementary to those of related groups in Worldline
· Work with Global colleagues to understand how UK solutions can be delivered into Global markets, concentrating specifically on technical issues, such as hosting, security, data segregation etc.

Job Requirements

Experience

· A background in software architecture, design and development, with in-depth experience delivering product ready software within these roles
· Experience of Solution Architecture on medium size applications
· Proven and demonstrable leadership skills within the development and management of products/solutions from a technical/architectural perspective in a multi-tier, scalable, corporate environments, with experience of working with Websphere, jBoss, Oracle and MySQL

Software

· Extensive experience of: Several development tools i.e. IDEs, Source control, Modelling tools; Code quality and coverage tools/checks; Automated/repeatable build tools
· An awareness of best practices within the industry
· Proven capability to work within areas building SOA solutions
· Good understanding of solution building block technologies such as Apache Camel, JBoss, JEE, JSF, EJB, mySQL, Hibernate, Linux, Network Protocols

· Experience of working in an Agile development environment
· Experience of several project lifecycle methodologies and an appreciation of best fit dependent on project requirements
· Able to establish a good rapport with a range of business and technical colleagues.

· Formal Architecture qualifications Architecture (e.g. ISEB, TOGAF)
· An external technical body (e.g. BCS)
· Oracle (Java)
· Microsoft (awareness level)
· Addition desired qualifications/certifications in:
· Application methodologies/frameworks
· SOA (java based)

Business & Commercial

· Service Management
· Agile
· Testing, Behavioural or Constraint Driven Development
· Some or all of the following experience:
· Application Server technology i.e. jBoss / Websphere/Others
· Oracle Application DBA and tuning,
· Middleware technologies (Websphere MQ, Intel, or similar),
· User interface technologies (HTML5, Java Server Faces or similar)
· Cloud technologies including hosting

Working Environment

· Experience of working in a distributed delivery environment
· Knowledge of the UK Rail Industry would be an advantage but training and support can be provided
· Excellent communication (verbal and written) and facilitation skills
· Presentation skills to both technical and business audiences
· Worked within off shore and near shore teams
