ARM are looking for a Staff Application Engineer who is passionate about working directly on “High Performance Computing (HPC) applications with scientists and end-users of Supercomputers in the EU.

This position is home-based or for any EU ARM office. As the role involves working with sensitive government customers, EU citizenship is essential. This role will involve up to 40% travels, primarily across the EU.

Job Purpose:

The Staff Applications Engineer is part of a focused professional services team that has responsibility for supporting and enabling key HPC customers and partners in their development of HPC software, using the ARM HPC Tools across a wide range of Linux/UNIX HPC platforms (ARM and other architectures).

Within this role, you will sharpen your HPC application expertise, working on a wide range of scientific fields and environments. You will gain an excellent knowledge of ARM’s HPC development tools, alongside a deep understanding on ARM architecture and ARM IP roadmap.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

In day-to-day work, you will be responsible for working alongside customers and partners on their HPC applications. You will be providing in-depth technical support, expert-level trainings in ARM HPC Tools, but also technology briefing at customer or partner locations. You will not only help customers debug and troubleshoot their applications, but you will also significantly improve customer application performance and generally improve the efficiency of the customers’ supercomputers. Your consulting role will lead you to design, propose and implement technical solutions of the highest order. A strong customer-oriented approach is required. You will be responsible to articulate customer requirements to Product Management, marketing and R&D teams based on the technical challenges you will identify to help steer the roadmap and the positioning of ARM HPC Tools.

Based on your experience working with customers, you will also be responsible for the creation of specialized technical materials such as HPC case studies, deep-dive technical blog posts and videos. Occasionally, you may be expected to provide technical back-up and support at conferences and workshops.

As a successful candidate, you will be offered the chance to work on the most strategic HPC projects, and to lead future collaborations and consultancy work with very high profile customers.

Education & Qualifications:

MSc or PhD in a scientific or computing discipline, or similar.

Main duties:

·  Working alongside customers and partners to support, train and assist in their use of HPC Tools, sharing your knowledge and best practices to ensure their success on ARM-based partner platforms
·  HPC software porting, optimization and debugging in support of ARM architecture platforms and deployments
·  Assisting in the creation of technical material such as case studies, blogs and how to videos
·  Technical back-up and support at conferences and workshops
·  Briefing partners and customers on ARM HPC Tools products and partner HPC platform capabilities
·  Using your expertise on HPC application development to provide input to the ARM product groups.

Job Requirements

Education :

MSc or PhD in a scientific or computing discipline, or similar.

Essential Skills & Experience:

·  Excellent problem diagnosis and resolution skills
·  Excellent C++ and/or Fortran skills
·  Strong parallel programming skills (OpenMP, MPI or CUDA)
·  Strong experience in performance optimization and application debugging
·  Deep understanding of at least one HPC application
·  Strong UNIX/Linux skills
·  Excellent communication skills in English and French, including written English
·  Capable of working as a team player and independently.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

·  Broad depth of knowledge of various HPC applications
·  Strong hands-on experience in a wide range of HPC toolkits (profilers, debuggers, etc.)
·  Hands-on experience of Allinea’s tools
·  Past experience providing technical support to HPC users
·  Past experience working in a customer-facing role
