About the role

ARM’s Imaging and Vision Group was created following our recent acquisition of Apical Ltd, a company specializing in world leading smart photography, display and computer vision technologies. Within an ongoing program of rapid expansion in this exciting technology environment, we are creating a dedicated customer support/application engineering team to help our customers select, develop with and deploy our products in their own world class devices.

What will I be accountable for?

Acting as part of a wider application engineering community in the ARM Shanghai office, you will be required to gain a deep knowledge of ARM’s ISP products, build relationships with the relevant engineering groups within ARM worldwide and deploy this knowledge solving real problems in a timely manner for customers during crucial stages of their own product developments.

Your main objective will be to provide in-depth technical solutions to ISP IP customers. You will have strong analytic and communication skills, with the ability to remotely diagnose complex technical problems. For high touch customer engagements, you will be required to travel to work with customers at their premises, feeding back both their and your experiences to ensure we make better products. Additionally, you will help create training material, application notes and multimedia content for customer education purposes.

What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?

Qualifications
Good university degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or Physics; Post Graduate degree preferred. Other engineering or science subject graduates would be considered if they have relevant experience.

Experience

·  Knowledge of ISP architecture with an excellent understanding of the interaction between hardware and software
·  Familiar with Image Quality evaluations and concepts including experience using Imatest or equivalent image quality analysis tool
·  Experience or knowledge of FPGA or ASIC design, simulation and/or verification techniques, including RTL coding and simulation, in Verilog or VHDL
·  Familiar with UVM and be able to support customers to create constraints for specific test cases.
·  Solid knowledge of CDC & clock gating
·  Knowledge of Synopsys Design Compiler (or similar)
·  Linting tool experience (such as SpyGlass)
·  Solid knowledge of AXI interfacing
·  Experience in integrating SoC peripherals
·  Experience of customer and sales interaction – ideally in a Technical Support, Product Deployment or Field Application role - as well as development work
·  Demonstrable experience of problem solving and debug skills
·  Understanding of CMOS sensor test methodologies and knowledge of display technologies would be helpful

Desirable

·  General understanding of 3A algorithm
·  Strong understanding of microprocessors, esp. media devices (GPU, Video Codec, DSP, etc.)
·  Understanding of FPGA or ASIC implementation flows (synthesis, scan insertion, layout)
·  Experience of working in a multi-time zone and distributed team environment
·  Personal interest in digital photography is a plus

·  Must be able to schedule own workload, and plan tasks – based on both internal and customer requirements.
·  Must have good inter-personal skills, and be able to work well within a multinational team; especially when under pressure. Excellent cultural awareness is essential.
·  Must be willing to be flexible and accept new challenges
