Our Technical teams are always looking out for the safety and quality of our products to ensure that they are the ones our customers love. They are the technical wizards that are always thinking ‘how can I make this better?'.

Joining us as an Assistant Product Technologist, you'll support the buying, design/innovation and merchandising teams in your division to drive innovation and quality standards. You'll be at the heart of a big, friendly team who understand that our customers deserve the best products at the best prices so that they want to keep coming back for more!

The right person for this role will be an excellent communicator, able to build strong, professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders. This role is highly analytical, so you'll need to comfortable in working with numbers and large volumes of information.

More about the role:

Assist in the delivery of the technical strategy
Ensure that the submission process is adhered to and all aspects of the product meet the required performance standards
Assist in the management of the technical development of product through engineering and competitor comparison
Deliver innovation on your category by visiting key UK fairs/competitors
Work collaboratively with Sainsbury's Argos teams to deliver their objectives and empower the supply base
Analyse customer returns to identify patterns and formulate a corrective action plan
Improve the number of right first time seal submissions
Understand customer needs through regular store visits and seek out customer feedback
Supporting the Technologist in the delivery of the white goods agenda

More about you:

A-level or NVQ Level or equivalent in electrical/technical engineering
Strong analytical skills
Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
An effective communicator at all levels
A keen learner who is ready to develop their knowledge in their given product area
