Subject of the internship:

Development and characterization of new metallic coatings by hot dip galvanization way with improved in-use properties for automotive application. The automotive market requirements concerning corrosion resistance is continuously increasing. In this way, the development of new anti-corrosion products allowing keeping high standards is one of the major challenges for ArcelorMittal research group. Regarding high strength steels, current efforts are devoted to the development of new coatings. After a first in-use properties assessment at lab scale, a new trial will be performed in Q1/2017 in order to confirm the good performances observed. Linked to this trial, during the training period a consequent trials plan will be launched to evaluate performances of the coating. After trials plan definition, the trainee will be especially in charge of samples preparation, trials plan and study synthesis. Mission results : Characterization and validation of metallic coating suitable for automotive market on advanced high strength steels.

Comments:

The training will take place in the R&D centre of Maizières-lès-Metz dedicated to automotive market. The trainee will join the Surfaces and Coatings cluster, in Surface Analysis and Manufacturing team and will have the opportunity to work with people having numerous competencies (gas-metal reaction, new metallic coatings by hot dip galvanization or physical vapour deposition, corrosion, surface treatments, customers painting processes...). There will be also strong interactions with other teams in charge of product characterizations (welding, stamping, adhesive bonding....).
