DESCRIPTION

The AWS Worldwide Revenue Operations (WWRO) Customer Insights & Reporting (CIR) team owns analytics solutions that enable internal AWS users to obsess over customers and make proactive, data-driven recommendations that position AWS as a strategic business partner in addition to a world-class cloud computing provider.

We are seeking a passionate, innovative, results-oriented Systems Development Engineer to help evolve and maintain tooling built by WWRO CIR and raise the bar on platform security, availability, and scalability. As a Systems Development Engineer you will:
· Identify and resolve issues, automate and improve repetitive processes, and work closely with the development team to identify operational need
· Become intimately familiar with the architecture of our systems, and be responsible for diving deep into code, while developing solutions for our customers and services
· Drive prioritization of operational issues, and drive automation design & scaling requirements in support of the wider organization.
· Create and update our infrastructure and security standards and ensure that the systems adhere these standards

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with AWS technologies and services or industry certification (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, AWS SysOps Admin)
· Experience working with business intelligence systems and architecture, such as Tableau or Power BI
· Experience working in a fast-paced DevOps environment (familiarity with DevOps concepts and lifecycle)
· Strong Windows/Linux debugging and systems analysis skills to be able to identify and quickly resolve/mitigate issues
· Exposure to large-scale distributed systems
· Previous experience with the following in a LINUX environments: LDAP, DHCP, NTP
· Experience with configuration management systems (i.e. Ansible, Chef, CFEngine, etc.)
· Experience working in critical systems and 24x7 production environment
· Ability to track the health of our services, identify and fix problems on complex systems with massive scale
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
· Strong sense of ownership and urgency

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 5+ years systems administration and engineering experience in a UNIX/Linux operating system
· 3+ years programming experience in at least one modern language
· Understanding of system and application performance characteristics, including load balancers, firewalls, and network troubleshooting fundamentals
· Systems administration experience in a Windows operating system
· Experience managing day-to-day development activities including leading architecture decisions, participating in system design, code review, and implementation.
