Principal Technical Program Manager, 3P Alexa Devices and Experiences

DESCRIPTION

Voice-driven AI experiences are finally becoming a reality and Amazon's Alexa cloud service and Echo devices are at the forefront of this latest technology wave. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) in the Alexa Experience and Devices team, you will help drive this innovation by delivering customer experiences both directly and through platform capabilities enabling internal and external partners.

In this role you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end, primarily focused on portable, OS-agnostic, common software stacks used by the ecosystem of 3P device manufacturers. Responsibilities include ownership of a delivery program, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation/adoption efforts with both internal and external teams. You will be making appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional teams. Understanding the technical complexity of features and bugs, you will be able to recommend priority of issues keeping customers in focus.

The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a timely manner.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
· 7+ years of experience in a related industry
· 2+ years of application development experience
· Experience managing distributed system, large scale web application, device software, API, or platform programs
· Demonstrated experience partnering cross-functionally with multiple teams spanning Product & Engineering, Business Development, and QA to define and implement processes, procedures and policies
· Demonstrated experience partnering with 3rd party device engineers and product managers
