Job description

DESCRIPTION

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates software, hardware, and the processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers that move billions of units of inventory, employ tens of thousands of people, and ensure that customers get what they want when promised. We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well.

Inventory Controllership (ICON) is the authoritative source of financial information for billions of inventory units that Amazon holds in its Fulfillment Centers (FC), worldwide. As new inventory arrives at the FC, they are routed to optimal locations within the FC based on space availability, customer demand and buying patterns. ICON tracks end to end financial life cycle of these packages, provides platforms that allow financial modeling of new business workflows and actively tracks process deviations.

We are seeking a Sr. Technical Program Manager to join the ICON team based out of Austin, TX. In ICON, we are building the next generation inventory management system for Amazon. This green field project will allow our customers to create new business models and processes on top of Amazon's physical inventory. We are building analytical platform to mine this data to find defects and improve our operations. As a Sr. Technical Program Manager in ICON, you will have firsthand exposure to designing and leading scalable systems that record billions of transactions in real-time every day and leverage Big Data approaches to provide new business insights to Amazon.

As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, you'll collaborate with software engineers, financial stakeholders, product management and operations teams to design, develop, and then deploy a large scale Big Data platform. You will be responsible for the entire life cycle of systems under development, including requirements, program management and prioritization. You are a self-starter who is comfortable working independently with little direction. You enjoy working with complex hardware and software systems, are customer centric, and thrive on the challenge of implementing solutions at a scale only Amazon can offer.

You will work directly with our business teams and stakeholders to understand and document requirements, understand problem space and drive prioritization with various engineering teams. You will work with our engineering teams to deep dive on system design, drive roadmaps and prioritization.
