Overview

· The Infrastructure Architecture function partners with Application Delivery Architecture to:
· Deliver high quality technology platforms with tiered service levels
· Deliver cost savings & efficiency through reduced complexity
· Enable effective regulatory, audit & security controls
· Drive productivity & sustainability
· Infrastructure Architecture is comprised of:
· Enterprise Architects responsible for 3-5 year technical strategy, underpinning the Future State Architecture.
· Technical Architects aligned by each technology to manage the infrastructure services, vendor engagement and product lifecycles.
· Solution Architecture aligned to each Global Business to manage & optimise the portfolio of infrastructure services used, driving operational improvement & cost efficiencies and providing cost effective infrastructure architecture & designs which align with over all technical strategy.

Role Purpose

· The primary purpose of the role is to deliver Architecture and Designs to meet FCTM business requirements.
· The team also manages & optimises the portfolio of infrastructure for each business unit, driving operational improvement & cost efficiencies.

This role will support the FCT - FCTM IT business projects and transformation programmes.

· delivering new IT services, exploiting current infrastructure technologies
· migrating apps from Distributed Systems to IaaS+ / PaaS platforms
· driving a greater utilization of virtualisation & lower cost storage
· migrating away from non-strategic technology platforms

Infrastructure Architecture's broader focus is to:

· Investigate new infrastructure technologies to meet the FCTM business requirements.
· Provide service governance of both existing and new technical non-functional service definitions maintained within an Infrastructure Service Catalogue
· Infrastructure Architecture Designs, approved by the Solutions Architecture Board (SAB)
· Manage relationships across HSBC IT Architecture, IT Infrastructure Delivery and FCTM Application Development team (ADM) areas on an on-going basis
· Keep up to date with business strategies & road maps; technology roadmaps and feeding wider business IT requirements into central infrastructure engineering and strategy teams
· Use of knowledge of the exiting business, applications and infrastructure to pro-actively make recommendations where it can be seen that improvements can be made

The role focuses on both Architecture (supporting IT Transformation):

· Determine business requirement and influence solution towards Infrastructure future state model
· Gauge strategic impact to business function, impacted upstream and downstream services and subsequent technology footprint
· Ensure logical design contributes to technology objectives
· Examine potential demise opportunities and propose deployment options
· Consider service placement requirements
· And Design (supporting IT Transformation):
· Delivering end to end technical infrastructure designs, ensuring Non-Functional Requirements are realised and validated
· Verify impact to adjacent services/systems and Validate deployment and support model
· Qualify technical acceptance of all components
· Review design and gain approval via Solutions Architecture Board
· Optimise commercials and approval

Desired profile

Qualifications :

·  Have a system engineering background and the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement. Provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption. Have in-depth conceptual functional and non-functional knowledge of:
·  Middleware (Websphere, Tomcat, Java, Messaging, Application Server, Web server)
·  Networking (Cisco, TCP/UDP, Broadcast/Multicast, LAN/WAN, SDN)
·  Server Operating systems internals, benchmarking and performance tuning (Linux, Windows, Solaris), Server Virtulization (VMware, Xen, Hyper-V, KVM)
·  Storage (EMC SAN – FC, FCoE, iSCSI, SRDF; NetApp NAS - CIFS, NFS)
·  Databases (Oracle & MS SQL; VCS & MSCS;)
·  Cloud technologies: AWS, Google GCP, Azure; APIs, Mulesoft
·  Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery

Business

·  Have a good understanding of the FCTM business. Able to translate business needs into appropriate IT solutions.

Technical

·  Databases (Oracle RAC, MSSQL, MySQL, Apache Hadoop & Hbase, MongoDB)
·  Grid technologies
·  In Memory Distributed Data Grid
·  End to end agile infrastructure architecture across all layers
·  Java/ Java GUI, XML/ XSLT, HTML/ Java Script
·  Infrastructure as Code
·  Passion for technology & understanding how things work
·  Candidates will also need to demonstrate:
