Software Development Manager, Serverless Application Repository

  • Seattle (King)
  • Project / Product management

Job description

DESCRIPTION

Come join us and shape the future of serverless applications. Serverless applications are one of the fastest growing areas in AWS, and we are looking for an engineering leader that is responsible for the broad charter of the AWS Serverless Application Repository (SAR): helping organizations, teams and professional disciplines (security, engineering, ops, analytics, etc) reduce duplication of effort, foster organizational best practices, and accelerate time-to-market using serverless technologies.

Over the past decade, application development has rapidly changed from utilizing physical servers in data centers to leveraging cloud APIs to manage large fleets of hosts. Serverless represents the next big evolution in computing, changing how companies big and small think about computing in the cloud. With the AWS Serverless Application Repository, customers can innovate even faster by re-using autonomous and specialized apps that don't share any code or implementation with each other but can easily be assembled to solve new customer needs.

You will be working on challenges like provenance, governance, scale, composition, compliance/security by-default, and dependency management, to name a few.

What does it take to succeed in this role? We are looking for an engineering leader, who can wear multiple hats at the same time – hire and grow the team, build new services to address business opportunities and passionate about working closely with customers

The ideal candidate is:

A great people manager: Building, motivating and mentoring a world-class engineering team is the most important part of this role. You should have a proven track record in recruiting and retaining top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.

Excels at delivering results: The successful candidate will collaborate with product managers to create roadmaps for their team. You will develop a keen understanding of your customers' challenges and constantly look for ways to solve them. You will need excellent technical project management and communication skills to deliver on your roadmap in collaboration with other teams. Experience with agile development methodologies is an advantage.

Thinks Big and drives innovation in an ambiguous space: The successful candidate will have a huge impact in driving the charter of the front end experience for developers building applications on Lambda. This is rapidly evolving space with complex problems to provide the necessary technology and experience for customers building Serverless applications.

Together, we'll develop the flywheel that makes the AWS portfolio services easier to use, and help every business from the smallest startups to the largest enterprises run their code in the cloud without the burden of infrastructure and without having to worry about the challenges of scale (that's our job). We'll shape not just our own products, but the direction of the industry . Come help us change the world!

Job location is Seattle, WA. Relocation assistance available.
