Software Development Engineer - Video Advertising (Sourcing and Targeting)

DESCRIPTION

We are inventing new and engaging mobile advertising experiences centered around high quality, highly relevant, responsive and highly performant videos. We are looking for skilled and creative software development engineers to work on our ad delivery team who focuses on sourcing, targeting, ranking and auctioning relevant ads that delight Amazon shopping customers.

What you will work on:
You will work with a team of talented and experienced engineers and designers to help bring new products to market and ensure that both groups of core customers (Amazon shoppers and advertisers) are delighted by what we create. You will work with our machine learning team to implement machine learning models that determine product relevancy and combine this with text search technologies to match advertiser content to customer search intent. All the technology you develop will operate in a latency constrained environment where caching and pre-computation is key for a near instant customer experience.

We believe strongly in experimentation, iterating quickly and getting feedback from our customers. The solutions you create need to ensure that the infrastructure facilitates and encourages this experimentation while being able to scale to the level needed at Amazon. You will have the freedom, support, and encouragement to think big and invent on behalf of our customers.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for a creative, customer and details obsessed Software Development Engineer with a solid background building applications using Java or Kotlin. In addition to being technically deep you need to have exceptional product ownership and the ability to own a project from inception through to deployment and operations. You will need the ability to have a long term technical vision, while also integrating feedback from customers and taking into consideration the long-term impact of any decisions. We need someone who loves learning and wants to work with an experienced team in a quick moving, iterative and highly collaborative environment.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
· Equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education
· 3+ years professional experience in software development
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
· Computer Science fundamentals in data structures
· Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
· Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl
