DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security team is looking for a Software Development Engineer who has a strong passion for security-at-scale. You will work on a small team dedicated to rapidly building new tooling and features to improve AWS Security capabilities. The AWS IT Security team is responsible for the security and availability of all of the services offered by AWS, including EC2, S3, and more than 40 others. Our mission is simple, yet broad: protect AWS from hackers.

We write large distributed systems to process insanely huge amounts of data, quickly, looking for needles that don't want to be found in one of the world's biggest haystacks. You will develop a broad understanding of the overall AWS security posture and deep knowledge on the data we store. Using that, you'll implement systems that process Amazon-scale data using both existing tools (Spark, EMR, etc.) and writing custom tooling. We're looking for someone who has not just experienced large systems, but designed them, and can help mentor junior developers. You'll be doing hands-on development, design, testing, operations, etc. Our team fully owns critical security systems.

While you may not be a security expert just yet, you have a passion for solving security challenges in innovative ways. You will work closely with our Threat Intel and Security Operations teams to build solutions to address pressing security issues. This is a high visibility team that solves security challenges at a massive scale.

Position can be located in Herndon, VA or Seattle, WA.

Responsibilities:
· Develop solutions to simplify the processing of massive amounts of data
·
· Design and implement data analytics systems for adversary detection, improving security incident response capabilities, and generally enhancing security situational awareness
·
· Rapidly prototype and incubate new security features and solutions
·
· Deliver high quality solutions in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift
·
· Mentor junior developers on the team to improve their skills and make them more effective software engineers

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or 8+ years of equivalent work experience
· 5 + years of professional software development experience
· 2 + years multiple programming languages developing scalable and maintainable applications or services
· 2+ years delivering large-scale distributed systems
· 2+ years of system and network security.
