DESCRIPTION

The AWS IT Security team is responsible for the security and availability of all services offered by AWS, as well as provides security support for teams acquired by AWS. This includes building security organizations and processes for AWS subsidiaries such as Elemental Technologies and Twitch. The AWS Security team works with services teams to design and build secure solutions, participate and coordinate cross-organization security initiatives, and solve security challenges at scale.

The AWS Security Subsidiary Security team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to build security tooling and operational automation to address both deeply technical and programmatic security challenges, as well as emerging new threats. The role requires partnering with AWS Security Customers, acquired teams, and leadership to identify and build solutions which will automate remediation and reporting of security threats. Successful SDE's at Amazon are self-starters, able to work autonomously, natural problem solvers, collaborative, and not fazed by adversity or ambiguity

Technical responsibilities:

- Interact with security customers to develop an understanding of impact of security issues
- Architect, design, and develop vulnerability tracking systems for integration of data feeds, improving security incident response capabilities, and generally enhancing security situational awareness
- Identify gaps and opportunities for improvements
- Design metrics to show effectiveness of proposed automation
- Apply the acquired knowledge to enhance the current metrics and reporting processes and frameworks used
- Rapidly prototype and incubate new security features and solutions
- Work closely with other internal development teams across various AWS services to coordinate security improvements

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- BS in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of industrial/academic experience with building distributed systems or web services
- Has led the successful delivery of one or more scalable distributed systems across multiple programming language
- 5+ years of experience in handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Designed and implemented one or more back-end databases and front end UIs
- 3+ years of working knowledge of Linux/Unix tools and architecture
- 3+ years of working knowledge of devops process and tools such as Git, Jenkins, etc.
