Job description

DESCRIPTION

As we strive to be Earth's most customer-centric company, Amazon has reinvented how hundreds of millions of people shop online – providing customers with the opportunity to find and discover virtually anything they want to buy and providing millions of sellers with a platform for growing successful businesses. To keep this flywheel spinning, we're looking for entrepreneurs with proven experience in business strategy, product development, large-scale execution, and people leadership.

Amazon.com is creating a new role responsible for leading our efforts to prevent various types of fraudulent activities. As our Marketplace has grown, it has become a more attractive target for malicious actors to attempt to game our systems and processes. They attempt to create gaps in our systems and the mechanisms we use to ensure a high quality customer experience. This gaming is a trust buster for customers and other sellers, and something we consider unacceptable.

This Sr. Product Manager will be responsible for multiple areas including identification of issues, executing initiatives to resolve them and address the root cause gap, building preventative mechanisms that get us a step ahead of these malicious parties, and taking more aggressive measures to protect our catalog. The leader of this program would need to demonstrate an ability to successfully drive the program by defining strategic direction, producing and executing product and operating plans, developing innovative experiences, and leading a team to execute on those plans. This role is based in Seattle.

The Sr. Product Manager will be responsible for ensuring strong execution while driving significant innovation and taking bold bets in how we significantly improve the buying customer's experience.

The ideal candidate should have experience in creating a sound business strategy and the ability to turn that into an executable plan, building relationships with internal and external teams, developing a team of leaders, and the ability to deliver results. The person must be flexible but action-oriented, and they must be capable of dealing with ambiguity, have strong analytical skills, and be comfortable in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The atmosphere is that of a new start-up that requires an innovative Sr. Product Manager that can move quickly, who obsesses over customers and loves working with and using data to guide decisions and prioritization. This person must also be willing to take calculated risks to drive the right seller behaviors without the fear of failing.
