Help create the future of advertising and digital entertainment with Amazon! It's an exciting time to be on the Video Shopping Experience (VSE) team. Our team builds the front end user interface and back end systems to power shopping videos across the Amazon site. We're looking for an extremely customer-focused Data Engineer who can help us connect customers with high-quality, relevant video content from our content providers to improve the customer shopping journey. This person will contribute creative solutions to the many opportunities that the video commerce and advertising business has to offer. As a Data Engineer with Video Shopping Experience team, you will build and maintain the infrastructure to answer questions with data, using software engineering best practices, data management fundamentals, data storage principles, and recent advances in distributed systems (e.g. MapReduce, MPP architectures, NoSQL databases). Specific responsibilities include:
· Ensure availability and performance of data infrastructure, including data pipelines and storage systems
· Collaborate on projects with analysts, business stakeholders, and engineering peers to improve data processes and enable data-driven decision-making at scale
· Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, team planning, and metric reviews
· Train new peers on how team data solutions are constructed, how they operate, and how they fit into the bigger picture

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
· Deep analytic skills and experience using metrics to inform decisions
· Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Intense customer focus (we really can't stress this enough)
