DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking an experienced and technology oriented Senior Controls Engineering – System Development Engineer, Advanced Technologies, to develop new mechatronic solutions within the EU Team for Advanced Technologies. Successful candidates will have strong experience in designing, developing, installing, managing and maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes into Amazon facilities. The individual has competencies in mechatronics, robotics, electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, software development. The role will work with other Design and Innovation Engineers, Controls Engineers, Operations Engineers, Installation and Maintenance Specialists, Software Engineers, TPMs, and Material Handling System (MHS) vendors to design and develop solutions for a variety of process challenges and R&D prototypes such as high speed package sortation, label application, robotic material handling, automated product identification, order consolidation, and packaging. The Individual will lead large scale control engineering projects and new products by developing control system design specifications, leveraging and building scalable distributed application software, and driving projects with internal and external teams. You will also develop strategy for core control systems and control equipment in the FC network to ensure solution supportability. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways
Demonstrated ability to develop deep understanding of the business and end user needs quickly, and can proficiently translate those needs into the right technology solution
Able to provide the customer and company-wide perspective to detailed technical decisions
Experience in IPC/PLC code development and installation of controls solutions, preferred platforms are AB and Siemens.
Experience using SQL.
Working experience using Linux or QNX platforms.
Understanding of industrial networking (Profibus, ASi and Industrial Ethernet)
Flexibility to travel up to 50% across Europe.
Fluency in English required. A plus is speaking other EU languages

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Work with internal Amazon teams and external vendors to deliver innovations and CAPEX projects to win business:
-Design, develop, code and implement mechatronic control systems.
- Conduct multiple weekly standing meetings with internal teams and vendors to plan and track deliverables.
-Deep dive on technical details and lead problem resolution on a need basis.
-Communicate project status, drive and elevate decision making and help requests.
-Work in close collaboration with World Wide Engineering, working across multiple time zones.
-Coordinate information between various teams in the organization and work very closely with the Ops Engineering, Real Estate, IT and Operations.
