Amazon is looking for a results-oriented individual to own strategic sourcing of network hardware that runs the infrastructure powering Amazon Web Services (AWS). Our Category Sourcing Managers are experts in their industries who deliver the supply and leading costs that help drive the explosive growth of AWS. The Category Sourcing Manager is responsible for driving the strategy formation, approval, and execution in an assigned category of networking equipment with a focus on meeting customer expectations, selecting and managing suppliers, aggressively reducing cost, and scaling to meet the rapid growth of AWS.

The ideal candidate needs to have strong and proven communication, leadership, and influencing skills. Successful leaders at Amazon are hands-on, results oriented, collaborative, and able to deliver innovative solutions with little to no supervision and guidance. Excellent verbal and written and communication skills will be critical to the success of this position. This role is located in Seattle, WA.

General Work Activities:
· Create and execute sourcing plans for a category, department, or project to meet customer needs
· Prioritize activities and align with stakeholders to deliver supply to meet customer needs
· Identify and drive realization of savings opportunities throughout the category
· Be a subject matter expert for the customers, technologies, and markets in which you engage
· Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals
· Identify and drive realization of opportunities for durable, relative advantage in your category

Function Specific Work Activities:
· Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit industry developments that benefit Amazon
· Lead sourcing engagements and sourcing teams in opportunity identification and RFXs where appropriate
· Identify and pursue opportunities to leverage and consolidate the supply base using system level tools and techniques
· Negotiate and implement supplier agreements/contracts that meet the business needs of cross-functional stakeholders and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers
· Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models
· Develop the best possible supply base
· Influence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations
· Manage supplier relationships and performance, and establish yourself as a primary business contact for key suppliers

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in engineering or business
· 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, enterprise technology, or electronics manufacturing
· 3 years of experience sourcing contract or original design manufacture of electronic hardware
