Business Intelligence Engineer - Long term Planning

Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer within the North American Sort Center (NASC) Long Term Planning team. Our team owns the Planning process and the analytics for both US and Canada sort center networks. The Amazon managed transportation network continues to grow in scale and complexity. As we onboard multiple new businesses through the middle mile transportation network - scalable solutions for future business needs, influencing change in our current processes and solutions to increase automation, and adaptation to complexity and ambiguity are critical to success.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, highly analytical, innovative, hands-on, technically skilled, and customer-obsessed analyst who will help in developing a best-in-class middle mile network for the North American Sort center network to deliver high quality customer experience while minimizing cost and improving fulfillment speed. This role will require you to work cross functionally and understand the long term requirements of the all programs that leverage the sort centers. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to thrive in ambiguous situations. The role will offer unique opportunity to develop the best-in-class middle mile network for the North American Sort center network to deliver high quality customer experience while minimizing cost and improving fulfillment speed. Besides the planning and automation, the role offers you to work on the Operations Research based planning tools and partner with research scientists to define new tools or improve existing.

This role requires
· Owning the analytics space including tools and modeling and support the operational planning cycles
· Strong quantitative and analytical skills
· Collaborating with multiple stakeholders within ATS team (Sort Centers, Line Haul, Amazon Air, Finance) and outside ATS (AMZL, NA Transportation, AMXL etc) teams
· Executing the OR based models and post processing the output
· Working closely with Operations Research Scientists and various planning teams to drive analysis and alignment with business stake-holders
· Deep diving the gaps within OR tools and feedback them to the Research Scientists team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· 3+ years of relevant work experience in data science, business analytics, business intelligence (BI), or comparable experience in big data environments
· 3+ years of experience in data mining and data-set preparation using SQL along with experience with Tableau Desktop or other relevant data visualization software
· Proficient with Python or other relevant scripting language
· 5+ years of experience in a data engineer or BIE role with a technology company
· Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related technical field
· Knowledge of data warehouse technical architecture, infrastructure components, ETL and reporting/analytic tools and environment
· Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical team, and senior management as required
· Experience working in large data warehouse environments
· Strong knowledge on OR based modelling and advanced statistics
· Able to work in a diverse team
