Job description

DESCRIPTION

Goodreads is looking for an outstanding Associate Editor to join its editorial team. The Goodreads editorial team is responsible for producing newsletters, articles, and social-media content that regularly reaches millions of readers around the world. The team also works with top authors and publicists, and mines internal data to create compelling content that helps Goodreads members find and share books they'll love.

We're looking for a sharp writer/editor with extensive writing, editing, copyediting, and light HTML skills to join a fun and dynamic team. This person must: love books and reading, be able to tell a great story and spot trends within book genres, and be comfortable leading all aspects of editorial products to completion.

The ideal candidate will be able to produce smart, entertaining, and lively content with great accuracy and quick turnarounds in a fast-paced environment. The candidate is full of intelligent ideas for newsworthy content and is comfortable liaising with internal stakeholders and external contacts including publishers and publicists.

The candidate should be well-versed in using metrics to inform editorial decisions and to judge the efficacy of content. They should also be comfortable working with large amounts of data and using data as a tool for curation. A strong visual sense a must. In addition, we're looking for someone with intelligent UX sensibilities, and a good eye for how language and product work together.

The writer/editor will be responsible for composing and launching a few newsletters a month across multiple genres, writing articles and social-media posts, curating book lists, and working with the team to create and run the annual Goodreads Choice Awards.
