Amadeus is a world leader in providing IT solutions for the whole travel industry. It provides a comprehensive set of products for managing airline business, spanning from reservation to operational systems and managing both passengers and aircrafts at the airport. The Airline Industry is also undergoing change and is being redefined by the Merchandising concept and all the major players are identifying and adopting this new perspective on the way to conduct their business. In answer to this, the Amadeus Merchandising division is committed to delivering a market-leading solution based on our already strong foundations.
Our department, Amadeus Anytime Merchandising is responsible for the design, development and implementation of this solution; the central tool enabling airlines to realise their merchandising strategy.
In-line with the R&D strategic pillars, we are building this Travel 360 solution to support the contextualisation and personalisation of the offers being made to travellers’ through all retailing touchpoints and the airline’s servicing and delivery channels. AAM will be materialised as a user-friendly and intuitive centralised portal permitting the airline marketer to effectively define, deploy, monitor and adjust the airline merchandising strategy like never before.
To reach this goal, our Merchandising Tribe will adopt fast-track agile processes and the latest technical innovations; including Lambda/R-Box and Amadeus Cloud Services.
Purpose of the internship is to explore the possibilities for the application of machine learning algorithms in the management of the airlines merchandising strategies.
Today, airline merchandising agents must consider many aspects in order to determine the correct approach for them to take. Through the use of machine learning, the intention is to create an intelligent merchandising platform that can learn to identify the best strategies and limit the guess work and the assumptions.
This platform aims at being the missing link between Business Intelligence and Merchandising: the business impacts of Merchandising strategies would influence the way Merchandising strategies are conceived in the first place, in a self-improving, virtuous cycle, limiting - as much as possible - human interactions.
With the support of a referent engineer, the trainee will actively participate in:
- the analysis,
- the definition,
- the design,
- and the implementation of a working prototype.
The prototype would gain knowledge through specialised analysis of big data – Hadoop technology stack – and evaluate the successfulness of existing merchandising strategies to create new ones in an automated fashion superseding today’s agent-driven approach.
Regarding the technical environment, there is no specific prerequisite: for Amadeus standard technology, appropriate training/support will be provided and we have some flexibility on the technical stack selection.
