Automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast (ADS–B) is a technology in which an aircraft transmits its GPS position to antennas that are listening to the corresponding frequency. ADS-B is part of the next generation traffic control systems, and is currently widely adopted by the airline industry. The technology is used by sites such as flightradar24.com to display flights in real time on a map. Amadeus is exploring the possibilities to use real time flight positions in combination with the vast amount of travel related data that the Amadeus system possesses.

The goal of this specific internship is to participate ina project to define and improve the backend solution that combines Amadeus data with ADS-B flight positions. The intern will participate in following activities:

· Define an architecture to be able to easily integrate new sources of ADS-B data, whether it comes from our own physical antennas or fromexternal APIs.
· Define the hardware setto be used for the Amadeus ADS-B antennas. Implement the software package in order to have an easy setup to participate to our network.
· Define the aggregation layer that combines ADS-B and Amadeus data.
· Expose a restful API for frontend applications to use.

The intern will integrate a group that is working together to innovate on the real time area. Within the project there will be the opportunity to work on the latest front and backend technologies, as well as hardware (Raspberry Pi, ADS-B antenna). The intern will have a large degree of freedom to shape the scope of the internship.
