Team Description

The merchandising R&D agile organization aims at developing new products to give airlines flexibility when defining their offer (Services, Fare Families, 3rd party content…) and control when to reach customer by using personalized merchandising techniques (emails campaigns, targeted promotions, personalized banners…).

As part of this engagement, touchpoint feature teams are working on integrating merchandising techniques into airline touchpoint such as Airline API and Airline websites.

Main Responsibilities

Airline Anytime Merchandising (AAM) is the core component of merchandising, and is integrated in every airline shopping requests.

AAM is proposing various techniques to tease the customer and cater the offer to its needs. One of these technique is to expose the availability of the different product, mainly seat. Depending on this indicator, the customer is enticed to book in order to secure the fare. It can be coupled with another offer named “Time To Think” where the customer pays a small fee to save the seat and the fare and can confirm after hand.

Aim of this internship is to leverage of this “sense of urgency” technique, and provide new indicators to the user along the booking flow. Besides the urgency, these indicators can be used as a way to secure the user in his choice, a technique often called “nudge”. For example,

· How many users are doing the same flight request?
· How many users have booked this service on this flight?
· When was the last booking of this flight?

To do so, the intern will leverage on AAM interfaces, by logging interesting information captured from the request, analyse them and push metrics in the AAM response to the touchpoints. Then each touchpoints can use these data to inform the user.

The objectives are

· To study the sense of urgency and nudge techniques on online travel agencies (OLTA) and airline website, and evaluate opportunities for Amadeus products
· To participate in the development of a proof of concept on at least one sense of urgency and one “nudge” technique integrated in the airline merchandising platform and Amadeus e-Retail product for airline website.

Requirements

The intern should have a knowledge of at least one programming language, Java is a plus. A background, either experience or training, in web development is needed.

Fluent technical English both written and spoken is required.
