Alstom is a worldwide supplier of complete railway signaling solutions, currently working on major contracts in Denmark and Sweden.

The Signaling Programme in Denmark involves the renewal of 800 trains, including passenger, freight and work trains, with the ERTMS technology, as well as, the development and deployment of the trackside ERTMS level 2 technology.

In Sweden, Alstom is implementing a new traffic management system for the entire country in order to improve the punctuality and the capacity of the Swedish railway network.

In parallel there is an increasing need to support Tenders in the Nordic countries.

Alstom is looking for a driven Software Design Engineer

As Software Design Engineer you are member of the Traffic Management System Design team in Copenhagen which is part of the Engineering Department. Your role consists of the design, implementation, maintenance and documentation definition of the software components of a Traffic Management System (TMS). The system is deployed in several locations in multiple countries and is highly under development for ongoing and future projects. The Traffic Management System is built on Microsoft .NET technology, written mainly in C# language, and is responsible for the schedule, supervision and optimization of the railway traffic in controlled areas.

The position is based in Copenhagen and you will work mainly on Danish and Swedish projects in collaboration with the company’s Italian site based in Bologna. Short travels may occur.

Responsibilities

Within this role you will be responsible for the software component design, specification of Web-based applications (using XML, WSDL, SOAP over HTTP protocol), in C# and .NET following the corresponding design patterns and coding rules, based on the written or verbal definition of the assigned Software Design Engineer and related Use-cases, scenarios and other available documentations. The maintenance of the existing software components will also be on your responsibility.

You will verify the implementation in collaboration with of the V & V team (Verification and Validation) located in Italy, in Denmark and in India and also provide support in defining the correct test cases and implementing test scripts on demand.

You will also take part of the design process which includes participating in planning meetings, design review and formalize design in written form using the corresponding tools and techniques. Furthermore you will update existing software documentation and software specification and will be deeply involved in the requirement management process.

Your profile

·  Engineering degree (Bachelor/Master) with specific training/experience in the field of Information Technology
·  Relevant work experience of minimum 2 years in similar position
·  Competences in writing requirements process
·  Good communication skills to attend customer meetings
·  Fluent in the English language, spoken and written
·  Danish language is an asset
·  Solid knowledge of Web-based applications (using XML, WSDL, SOAP over HTTP protocol), in C# and .NET
·  Knowledge of the railway signaling systems is a plus
