Purpose of the Job
The Electronic Board Engineer defines, designs and verifies the architecture and the functionalities of the electronic board (gate drive for power modules or supplies for switchgear electromagnets) in compliance with initial requirements.
Responsibilities
· Collects external (customer, standards) and internal (power module, control electronics) requirements, and allocates them to the technical teams
· Defines the architecture and functionalities of the electronic board, taking as input the external requirements as well as internal ones
· Allocates – while optimizing the costs – the transverse requirements (EMC, reliability, weight, …) to the various functions of the electronic board, in close collaboration with experts and RAMS engineer
· Writes the technical description of the electronic board
· Simulates the (logical and analogical) behaviour of the electronic board and writes the design reports
· Searches for all electrical components and calculates their electrical and thermal constraints
· Writes technical requirement specifications of the specific components, leads technical discussions with the supplier and participates in the component qualification
· Checks the codification of components in the component library
· Specifies the printed circuit board (placement, routing) and verifies the routing
· Specifies the routine tests
· Establishes and manages the file of the product
· Ensures consistency and compatibility between all the functions of the electronic board by participating to all design reviews
· Leads the system design review and the electronic board design review
· Defines, together with the validation team, the electronic board validation strategy
· Leads fine-tuning tests to check design parameters on the prototypes
· Supports the Gate Drive PrEM or Switchgear PrEM for implementation and update of the engineering risk mitigation plan
· Ensures that the constructional & functional configuration of the electronic board is compliant with requirements (verification)
· Participates in technical meetings with customer in order to provide support to the PrEM and the Product Manager
· Supports the PrEM by proposing QCD improvements
· Analyses technical issues and proposes solutions during the commissioning and the reliability growth phase
· Analyses obsolescence and proposes solutions during the whole product life time
