Description of the job

You want to contribute in making Airbus aircrafts safer and more autonomous? An opportunity as “Surveillance System Designer – Image Processing” has arisen within Airbus Toulouse! Autonomy in civil aviation is becoming a key driver in aeronautical industry.

The jobholder will join the Communication and Surveillance systems department and more specifically the group in charge of Video and Surveillance functions such as:

·  Anticollision with other aircrafts or UAVs (ADSB, TCAS, ..)
·  Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems
·  Weather awareness through radar technology

The field of surveillance/vision systems is a technical field with a lot of opportunities as our systems have a role to play in the route to autonomy and plenty of innovations are emerging.

Computer vision* is a technology that we believe will allow us to reduce the crew workload while increasing safety through situation awareness improvement and/or threat alerting. Long term strategy is to develop autonomous operation.

(*)Real time process that include acquiring digital 2D/3D images, analyzing content and extracting relevant information for a dedicated function.

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

He/she will be in charge of:

·  identifying existing sensors and assessing their performance working closely with Suppliers (also from other business field such as automotive)
·  defining the optimized couple sensor/algorithm to meet the function expectation
·  evaluating the impact of the avionics context (performances, DAL, qualification, ..)
·  clarifying the validation and verification strategy with the objective of certification
·  contributing to the incremental introduction of image-based functions in the A/C

The job holder will contribute to introduce Image Processing and Computer vision on civil aircrafts.

Therefore, the job holder, on top of technical skills (image processing, sensors, algorithms programming, ..) will have to be a collaborative team player able to adapt to a changing and challenging environment.

Required skills

You will have the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Information Technology or a

related discipline,

·  An experience in Computer Vision or Image processing,
·  Programming skills,
·  Aircraft systems knowledge would be appreciated
·  An experience in another industry would be interesting.
·  Open minded and agile,
·  Collaborative mind set,
·  Innovation oriented and Business driven,
·  Language skills: Negotiation level of English.
