Description of the job

A vacancy for a Surface Technology scientist (m/f) has arisen within Airbus in Nantes, Technocampus.
You will join Materials X France Department.

Tasks & accountabilities

You will be responsible for:

·  Developing knowledge on anticorrosion system with an integrated vision (surface treatment, painting and sealant)
·  The technical perimeter could be extended to adhesive topic accordingly to Airbus needs

·  Developing new technology for corrosion inhibition system

·  Developing multifunctional coatings in relationship with suppliers and academic partners

·  Developing testing methods for surface treatment

·  Ensuring technical watch for detecting emerging surface technologies

·  Capitalizing and Growing internal knowledge by capturing knowledge from external companies & research institutes

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Analysing and selecting the most relevant surface system in cooperation with Airbus plant

·  Proposing relevant advanced solution related to the different business cases

·  Developing in strong link with supplier, new chemical bath for surface treatment, new painting formulation or sealant system

·  Analysing the testing campaigns and identify chemical mechanisms, key process parameters, defects

·  Developing corrosion testing which is representative of in-service conditions

·  Assessing the technico-economical benefit in cooperation with the customer

·  Supporting key projects to ensure project outcomes are delivering tangible benefits company and enabling sustainable and long-term performance

·  Ensuring technical watch on emergent surface technologies and their potential

·  Establishing cooperation with key partners (suppliers and academics)

·  Performing state of the art on adhesive topic and build the research activity

This role will involve frequent travel for business (mainly in Toulouse) and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

You will have the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to 5 degree level (or equivalent) in Chemistry/Physico-chemistry or a related discipline (or PhD)

·  Experience on anti-corrosion coatings or paint systems

·  Experience on wet surface treatment would be a plus

·  Knowledge on metallic and composite material would be a plus

·  knowledge in chemistry, coating technologies, sol-gel, paint formulation, surface treatment, electro-chemistry

·  You are pragmatic with strong team spirit to work in cooperation mode

·  Good communication skills, active listening and a pro-active approach

·  Opened mind-set to work within multifunctional/multicultural teams

·  Autonomous

·  Language Skills: advanced level) of English and French.
