Description of the job

A permanent job opportunity for a Stress Engineer A380/A400M Pylon (M/F) has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse (Saint-Eloi site). You will join the Pylon A380/A400M design office team which is in charge of the definition and in-service monitoring of the pylon structures and the integration of the associated systems.

You will be accountable for all Stress activities related to A380/A400M Pylons structures.
You will ensure the Continuous Airworthiness: in-service occurrence, daily repair, airworthiness review meetings contribution with EASA.
In the frame of the Airbus “Boost Maturity” project (to support customer satisfaction), you will also ensure pylon structure continuous improvement for recurring costs reduction.

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
¤ Certification activities:
You will perform Stress justification of pylons structures for aircraft weight variants and future derivatives.
You will approve relevant stress documents (basic reports, certification documents).
You will ensure A400M and A380 primary and secondary structure navigability (metallic and composite).

¤ Structures modifications:
You will contribute to define structure improvement/modification in collaboration with plant and programs. You will participate to aircraft modification certification, collaborating with Local Stress Authority.

¤ Technical support to production plant:
Located directly in Saint Eloi plant, you will take benefit of proximity with pylon manufacturing to support daily concessions and manufacturing queries. You will analyse, with other involved engineers, non-conformities and define solutions and relevant conditions for acceptance.
You will contribute to Concession Process improvement (Airbus “Cap Horn” project).

¤ Technical support to customers:
You will handle daily repair queries from airlines concerning in-service incidents. You will analyse, with other involved engineers, damage reports and requests, define repair solutions with related inspections (if relevant) and make relevant justification to be included in approval document. You will also provide justification of generic repairs to be included into Structure Repair Manuel, further to recurrent in-service occurrences.
Moreover, you will provide assistance to other Stress engineers in order to answer specific queries from airlines after abnormal events (hard landing, in-flight turbulence ...) and will define/validate conditions for return to flight of aircraft.
You will also contribute to support to team in-service occurrence focal point to produce safety risk assessment and EASA reporting (Airworthiness Review Meeting) to maintain A380 and A400M fleets in service.

Additional activities:
¤ Project management: you will support work package leader on spec definition, planning, follow up and costing of technical activities. You will contribute to Team objectives achievement to reach make/buy ratio. You will follow and validate subcontracted Stress activity.

¤ Finite Elements Models (FEM): You will either develop/improve local/global FEM. You will also perform FEM validation and extract stress data.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and competences:

·  Degree in general Engineering
·  At least 3 years' experience in Stress analysis of metallic and composite structures is required
·  Knowledge of ISAMI, NASTRAN and HYPERWORKS tool mainly
·  Knowledge of ABAQUS would be a plus. If no tool experience, willingness to learn would be appreciated
·  Knowledge of pylons structures or - at least- of engine environment would be very helpful
·  Advanced level in English is required
·  Intermediate level in French is required
