Job Description

A vacancy for an experienced system- and software-architect arose in the test-support and simulation-frameworks-organization (TEYVI-7).

We deliver solutions for test and simulation of software & systems and help our engineering organization to deliver avionics, flight controls, mission systems, ground support systems and training simulation of ambitious civil & military aircraft programs in time, cost & quality.

Our mission in legacy programs is to sustain Airbus’ capabilities to update & upgrade the electronic systems of aircrafts in operation and help existing programs to pave a way for re-use of their assets in future system-of-systems involving remote-piloted and autonomous agents.

Our future business is dominated by the virtualization of software-design-, verification- & validation-operations: We must not only support the development of future avionics, flight controls, mission systems and training means for future programs but also actively shape future workflows that enable shorter iteration cycles and agile ways-of-working in a heavily regulated environment (DO-178c, DO-330 & military standards).

Your profile:

As an experienced system- and software architect you are able & willing to contribute to our software-stack hand-on, which is dominated by C & C++. You are also able to implement light-weight workflows in Python and can display significant experience in workflows & tools that boost productivity, such as Continous Integration & Deployment Pipelines, Source-Control with Git & Cloud Computing.

You are able to orchestrate software-architecture at scale, both from a technical as well as an organizational point-of-view: This means that you are able to derive simple-but-also-ingenious solutions for complex problems that can be re-used, tested with ease, understood, migrated to other target platforms with little effort etc.

Your solutions will be large, s.t. you will not be able to do all the work on your own. You are aware of this and able to influence and lead “without power”, s.t. people agree to follow your approaches to problems. It is a pleasure for you to teach & grow the technical background of junior developers and take the technical lead in projects & initiatives.

You love software & technology -  because it is the best way for you to contribute to the success of an organization -  and like to grow as a respected expert in your role. As such you are also able to look at the results of our collaborative efforts from different angles, such as maintainability, making-or-buying, customer-impact, testability and collaboration with engineering contractors who work remote & off-site. The solutions you develop integrate seamlessly into the bigger picture, for example they can be re-used in other departments, such as flight test operations, pilot training simulators, civil programs and cloud-native services for analysis, test & simulation. You enjoy to contribute to cross-national working groups, communicate technical issues and drive decisions in these environments. Of course, you like to travel occasionally to our partners in Germany and Spain.

We encourage you to contribute to internal and international conferences, to exchange with experts in the company frequently and hence help grow our reputation as a tech-hub for simulation and test in aerospace and defence.

What we need to see:

-You hold a master degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation &  control or related discipline from a university.

-You can display more than eight years in software development for embedded platforms, industrial cloud (IoT) or industrial computing (automation & control) preferably in the automotive or aerospace industry.

-You have experience in software developement at scale and shared code with 20+ developers.

-You have profound knowledge in C++ and optimize your product with e.g. memory management, move semantics

-You delivered software into production-environments for more than five years.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

By submitting your CV or application you are consenting to Airbus using and storing information about you for monitoring purposes relating to your application or future employment. This information will only be used by Airbus.
Airbus is committed to achieving workforce diversity and creating an inclusive working environment. We welcome all applications irrespective of social and cultural background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.

Make every future a success.
