Description of the job

Smart Production Network Engineer vacancy is part of Smart Production transformation, an Airbus Industrial platform to embed intelligence and connectivity in any production tool as well as to augment and assist human resources from line workers to white collars. Smart Production platform is a single source to our plants to overlay any software and hardware for all things smart tools, IoT, Networking, Wireless and gateway to Data Center. You will join the Robotics & Mechatronics & Painting department and you will be based in Toulouse.
Major outcome is to ensure at shopfloor level QoS of Operational Technology network (integrating disconnection and disturbances) without requiring persistent connection between Machine to Machine and Machine to Information System.

As Smart Production Network Engineer, you will significantly contribute to identifying best-fit architectural solutions for Smart Production and its evolution. Thus, you will work with Smart Production team with its high performance transnational project team by launching and executing research activities, with mainly external partnerships, to maximize access to special skills/capabilities and funding that assure delivery of Industrial strategy.

This role is considered part of critical future competences and skills for Airbus Industrial organization and may mentor team members.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

o Providing proposal for smart wireless network technology architectural assessments, strategies, and R&D roadmaps
o Providing architectural solutions/designs to project execution teams for implementation and perform network modeling, analysis, and planning
o Designing, testing, and inspecting data communications systems
o Installing any requesting hardware
o Analyzing, engineering, and executing software functions linked to network protocol encapsulation
o Working with Smart Production application developers, users, operational leadership, and subject matter experts to understand current and future Operational Technologies communication network
o Reviewing and proposing new products and solutions that the team should focus on
o Creating reverse technology development plan to incrementally meet disruptive objectives and steadily implement new technologies in operational process
o Setting up research consortium with the goal to attract stakeholders, to create high added value leverage and maximize external funding ratio
o Conducting voice of customer meetings with the prototypes to get end-user feedback and iterate to develop best solution
o Developing and delivering first application while identifying in all plants network all applications to build up a bundle of systems to leverage CAPEX reduction and fast global implementation
o Writing functional requirements/specifications documents
o Assessing vendor development/test strategies
o Working with Procurement to provide information that will aid from initial quoting process to industrialization and dissemination process
o Performing network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
o Upgrade network hardware and software components as required
o Setting up Smart Production Wireless Network Platform technical support team
o Leading system PDR/CDR/CISS/CIPS and predefined testing activities, including administering the plan, interpreting statuses, and reporting results
o Coordinating with all plants/FAL's local site management to ensure procedural compliance, maintenance and cyber security practices are followed for new and existing equipment
o Driving the definition of Smart Production Wireless network and standards both internally and in external standards organizations.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to an Engineering level or PhD in Electronic, Micro Electronic and Micro Waves or a related discipline
·  Strong knowledge/experience of WiFi networks and state of the art deployment, 3G/4G physical and logical level
·  Embedded systems knowledge
·  Programming skills C/C++, Mathlab
·  Experience in Smart Production and/or Robotic and/or Mechatronic
·  Signal and Image processing experience
·  Communication skills
·  Ability to think out of the box & curious
·  Proactive & adaptable
·  Negotiation level of French and advanced level of English.
