Description of the job

A vacancy for a Satellite Operations Product Assurance Manager (m/f) for Telecommunication satellites (OpsPA) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse.
Within the Telecommunication Satellite Product Assurance division, you will join the Satellite Operations Mission Assurance team covering product assurance activities for the exploitation of satellites and the associated ground means.

In this position, you will work alongside the In Flight Satellite Support (IFSS) team in charge of providing technical support to our customers, Eurostar satellite operators, in order to secure their commercial mission and to maintain a high level of satisfaction on our products, as well as the associated services.

Your main mission will consists in ensuring that these in-service support activities, implement products (flight software, operational procedures, databases, user manuals) in compliance with contractual and technical requirements and applicable internal processes.

Once the commercial entry into service has been performed (IOAR), you will take information from the Product Assurance manager of the project for all incidents affecting the on-board or ground operations of our products. You will then animate in connection with technical authorities and flight support managers, for their resolution. You will manage the associated quality records (anomalies, modification) and you will ensure the application of remedial and corrective actives.

Within the context of existing capitalisation processes, you will contribute to the analysis of possible preventive actions and you will be responsible for the implementation of exploitation recommendations and the necessary adaptations on other similar in-service satellites.

This position will require security clearance or being eligibility for clearance by the recognised authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main activities will include:
1. Activities related to the handover and follow-up of in-orbit satellites:

·  Interfacing with the teams in charge of satellite development and positioning operations for the establishment of the flight configuration of the satellite. Taking into account design features, manufacturing history and feedback from the first hours of operation are significant for this step,
·  In coordination with OpsPA in charge of the development activity of operational products, verifying the application of development, maintenance and validation processes of the products, as well as the representativeness of simulation means,
·  Implementing Quality milestones in the context of the supply of satellite related services (on-site assistance, provision of a backup satellite control centre, relocation or deorbiting services),
·  Participating in periodic meetings with each flight support manager (IFSS account manager), and contributing to defined deliverables in the context of support contract to operators (status of anomalies, operational recommendations, modifications of project documentation),
·  Organising with the flight support manager, internal anomalies investigation (IRB) meetings or with the customer (ARB) and unrolling, if necessary, the research steps of causes (ACA-ADEQUA) and their structuration through the establishment of a breakdown tree,

2. Activities related to preventive processes and flight feedback:

·  Participating in the monthly session of preventive analyses of the in-orbit fleet (MQRB) prepared by satellite sub-system (MSC) specialists). During this meeting, identifying potential anomalies, risk trends and the associated actions (implementing monitoring),
·  In the context of EUROSTAR feedback (IOER), managing the traceability of generic impact events on the product line and administrating the process of modification requests with the dedicated CCB commission.
·  In this context, establishing the progress status of these modifications and their deployment on the fleet through generic recommendations (FOR generics),
·  Participating in IFSS project team meetings in the iOBEYA format on the status of the in-orbit fleet and maintaining the status of implemented recommendations and on-going corrective and preventive actions.

3. Cross-functional activities:

·  Performing administrator tasks for the databases in which technical events which occurred during the in-orbit life, as well as the databases in which operational recommendations transmitted to our customers are recorded in order to secure and facilitate the exploitation of these satellites. Contributing to regular improvement actions of these processes and the associated tools,
·  Updating and modifying the applicable Mission Assurance documentation in line with the SUPPORT (BMS) process organisation and ISO9100 directives. As such, you will lead the operating of these processes for the TELECOM entity. You will maintain a regular status on pertinent metrics for the activity. You will present their modifications and the resulting actions in the context of defined reviews and during certification/monitoring audits,
·  Presenting in the context of the annual EUROSTAR Users Conference, the metrics related to the state of the health of our satellites and the efficiency of the initiated improvement actions over this period,
·  Preparing and animating training sessions intended for our customers on the Mission Assurance activities for satellite operations,
·  Controlling that the operational teams, starting 24/24H standby duties, are trained and entrained in compliance with the existing certification programme

In the case of participation to positioning operations, night-time shifts may be required.

Required skills

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate some of the following competencies & skills:
Engineering degree (or equivalent), ideally specialising in Information Technology

·  At least 3 years of experience in the following fields: development, specifications or functional analysis of system, equipment or embedded software, Quality Assurance software, Quality Assurance embedded equipment
·  Knowledge of problem-solving methods (ADEQUA, 8D, etc.) would be a plus.
·  Knowledge of quality processes and standards of the space field (ECSS) and CMMI would be a plus
·  A meticulous approach, a service-oriented mind-set, teaching skills, good communication skills, and summary skills are required for this position,
·  An advanced level in French and English.
