Description of the job
A vacancy for a “R&D Earth Observation Development Services Engineer” has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Airbus Defence & Space Intelligence Toulouse facility.
The successful applicant will join the Airbus Defence and Space Intelligence R&D portfolio team. The R&D Portfolio team is composed of 5 researchers.
The team is working closely with operations, marketing and sales to create new innovative features in line with the market and future needs.
The candidate will have the responsibility to develop, with and without external partners, new digital analytical services / value added products around Airbus Defence and Space Intelligence core activities (satellite images and associated services).
The development will be made in Agile R&D mode in close coordination with the Operations and the Sales/Marketing/sales teams.

Tasks & accountabilities
Since two years, Airbus Defence and Space Intelligence is developing a digital cloud platform called SmartGeoPlatform.
It aims at storing all Airbus Defence and Space Intelligence satellite images on line and developing services around them.
A first operational service, OneAtlas, has been opened in September 2016. The R&D team is working on developing complementary processing / analytical services on the platform.
New algorithms will have to be developed (machine learning, remote sensing); new service or value added product (analytics) will have to be set-up by crossing image information with other various sources.
The candidate will work in a startup, devOp, spirit mode. He should be passionate by satellite imagery and new computer science connected to cloud environment such as machine learning, analytics, big data... He should look for developing new innovative applications in close collaboration with the business.
This role will involve some travels for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
Required skills
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
· Educated to a Master level, an engineering level or equivalent in Mathematique and Computer Science.
· Experienced with Big Data frameworks: Spark, BigQuery, and Machine Learning.
· Experienced with DevOps techniques: Docker, Orchestration, Continuous Integration (Jenkins, Travis).
· Know how in image processing would be a plus.
· Ideally, Development skills in: Go, Python, Java, JavaScript, AngularJS including testing and documentation.
· Familiar with cloud technologies: Google Cloud Platform (i.e. Compute Engine, AppEngine, DataStore, Storage, Pub/Sub), Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, Lambda), Micro-services architecture, REST API.
· Advanced or fluent level in French and English.
