Description de l'offre
Airbus Operations SAS
Airbus is a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services. In 2018 it generated revenues of € 64 billion and employed a workforce of around 134,000. Airbus offers the most comprehensive range of passenger airliners. Airbus is also a European leader providing tanker, combat, transport and mission aircraft, as well as one of the world's leading space companies. In helicopters, Airbus provides the most efficient civil and military rotorcraft solutions worldwide.
Our people work with passion and determination to make the world a more connected, safer and smarter place. Taking pride in our work, we draw on each other's expertise and experience to achieve excellence. Our diversity and teamwork culture propel us to accomplish the extraordinary - on the ground, in the sky and in space.
Description of the job
The Materials, Processes and Tests (MPaT) domain, which is part of the Engineering Structure, supports all Airbus programs, design and calculation offices, Manufacturing functions and Customer and Procurement departments.
Our mission is to provide reliable and safe materials, processes and test data that can be used to design, build and maintain our equipment, while meeting the highest cost, time and mass requirements.
Within MPaT, the assembly principles team has a transnational activity and is in charge of the development and deployment of assembly principles mainly using fasteners.
The hole to hole assembly of parts is one of the solutions investigated in order to optimize and accelerate the assembly processes. The principle is to realize final holes on elementary parts. Then during final part assembly, there remains only the part positioning and the installation of the final fastener to be done.
Tasks & accountabilities
The thesis is part of a global project on the study of assembly 'hole to hole' and it will aim to find innovative technologies to ensure equivalence with the adjustment of today and the assembly of tomorrow and to offset the potential impacts due to the risks of misalignment.
Initially, the study will be carried out to determine the problems and constraints that the “Hole to hole” assembly can bring as much from an industrial point of view as the mechanical performance. In this study, assembly and drilling processes will also be analyzed to understand their behavior and impact on performance. This will involve understanding the state of constraint at the edge of the hole as a result of the drilling processes and the fastening installation, possibly with additional processes. This should allow later, at the industrial level, to optimize the entire assembly process, from the realization of the mounting housing to the installation of the fastener.
Then we can implement solutions via fasteners or innovative processes to reduce the performance impact of the “hole to hole” assembly. These solutions will optimize the deployment of this assembly while guaranteeing its performance and industrialization.
The 3 main activities will be:
i- Understanding the phenomena and behaviour of 'hole to hole' assemblies
ii- Propose and develop innovative solutions & Management within the framework of the R&T project & Management of the coupons and tools manufacturing
iii- Presentations during conferences and publications
This thesis offers a technical challenge in terms of understanding and innovations that must be industrialized. It will also permit to work with multi-profession teams of different nationality.
This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
