Description of the job

A CIFRE (PhD) position entitled "DESIGN OF AIRCRAFT ARCHITECTURE BY INTERPRETATION OF BODY MOVEMENTS (M/F/)" has just opened at Airbus (Commercial Aircraft), in Toulouse.
The doctoral student will be part of the development team of the ID Lab laboratory, and will take into account the definition of a set of gestures, which will allow users of virtual reality to design elements of aeronautical architecture through the movements of their bodies.
Captured by the virtual reality motion tracking system, these body movements will be transformed into requests, which will be sent to a CAD system, which will respond to said requests by proposing relevant geometries in the virtual reality scene.
The user will then have to select the correct geometry, install it in the aircraft and adjust its parameters and connections to the other components of the aircraft.
All these transactions must be carried out under the control of an artificial intelligence system, which will apply the design rules in force and improve them according to the results of users' decisions regarding the choice of geometries.
