Description of the job

A vacancy for an On Board Computer Simulation Software Engineer (M/F) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse.

Within the space systems engineering organization, the Checkout Systems division TESC is in charge of delivering ground software and hardware solutions to enable and optimize satellite engineering, verification and operation processes

The mission of the department TESCS is to provide satellite projects with a consistent and fully harmonized FVI Products and Services.
The team is organized through Technical domain groups (Hybrid, AOCS, DHS,Power/thermal/Mission and Delivery Manager) with the mission to provide industrialized products for multi-projects. These groups are led by technical leader, empowered to manage technical domain group as a dedicated center of Competences / mini factory.
Key asset of the numerical FVI is the On Board Computer (OBC) simulation which is at the heart of all delivered numerical simulators. The satellite On-Board Software (OBSW) is executed on top of the OBC simulator which provides extra features to validate it. The development of the OBC simulator
requires an in-depth knowledge of the OBC equipment and mechanisms, of the architecture and instruction set of the embedded processor (ARM, SPARC, etc...), and good skills in computer science especially object-oriented development (C++) to implement the simulation in a real time environment with strong performance constrains.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include

·  Developing the OBC Simulation which mainly consists in depth knowledge of the OBC equipment, interface with OBC equipment manufacturer then specification (taken into account user need), conception, architecture, software development and maintenance of the simulation
·  Integration of the OBC model within the overall satellite simulation
·  Strong interactions with the emulator team at the heart of the OBC model
·  Support to OBSW development teams

This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering/Software/Simulation/Modeling
·  Software skills : ARM/SPARC assembler, C, C++, Java
·  Operating system : Linux, Windows
·  Avionic Buses: 1553, SpaceWire, CAN
·  Knowledge in real time and embedded systems
·  Know-how in Spatial system or sub system, satellite development process knowledge, software development, and/or ground hardware development skills are a plus
·  Adaptability, open minded in a changing environment
·  An advanced level in English is mandatory
