Description of the job

A vacancy for a Materials and Processes Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Elancourt. You will join the “Avionics Power Conv. Quality ELC” department .
You main mission will be to provide materials, mechanical parts and processes engineering support to business unit projects, to ensure the quality of materials and processes used in Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) electronic products.

This activity will first be focused on electronic boards and units validation in manufacturing area through final quality inspections, as well as quality validation of the manufacturing processes.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Satisfying internal customers (projects, product teams, manufacturing, procurement, design office, PA, etc.) through the application of specialist materials and processes knowledge
·  Ensuring performance of planned activities, on time and with respect to the governing product assurance requirements.
·  Instigating and managing materials and processes selection, development, evaluation and qualification programmes
·  Validating declared materials and processes lists and ensuring that adequate materials and processes qualification has been achieved in accordance with projects constraints
·  Presenting and justifying to the final customers the material and processes, and the validation programmes that were applied.
·  Ensuring deployment of these material and processes through implementation of the dedicated procedures, specification and all relative justification documents within manufacturing department
·  Validating the design drawing and the manufacturing files in accordance with qualified technologies and processes
·  Validating the technology conformity of the manufactured products, though Mandatory Inspection Point,
·  Acting as the Materials and Processes manager for one or more project/product teams. As the internal customer interface, resolving all materials and processes issues by using inherent materials and processes knowledge or by facilitating the engagement of other specialist team members, when necessary
·  Participating in risk reviews at all stages of product design, development and manufacture, ensuring that materials and processes risk retirement plans are carried through.
·  Reviewing and approving subcontractor/supplier materials and processes documentation. Monitoring the technical performance of subcontractors and suppliers and participating in audits
·  Performing Material and Processes follow-up and contractual reviews at subcontractors companies level in support to the ADS prime project teams
·  Maintaining awareness of developments in the field of materials and processes.

This role will involve frequent travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Engineering degree (or equivalent) specialising in materials and processes with knowledge in electronics and quality
·  Experience in materials and processes in relevant fields such as: electronics, soldering and SMT, printed circuit boards, etc.
·  Knowledge of normative technical specifications, ECSS, ESCC, ASTM, MIL, ISO
·  Experience in process audits and continuous improvement would be a plus
·  Knowledge of EEE specification systems and processes would be appreciated
·  Leadership, meticulousness, communication skills, autonomy, team spirit and customer-oriented mind-set
·  French: negotiation level
·  English: advanced level
