Description of the job
A vacancy for a legal Counsel (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse. You will join the Intelligence IS department. Intelligence specialises in producing and marketing worldwide products and services deriving from satellite Earth observation.
Your main mission will be to support the Intelligence legal team and to provide comprehensive legal expertise to Intelligence teams (sales/customer services/commercial/marketing/project/Management) within an international context.
You will report to the current Head of Legal.
This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognised authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities
Within this context, your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
· Actively contributing to the reduction of legal exposure in commercial contracts and industrial set-ups for international projects by identifying and analysing all risks involved in any transaction and advising/briefing internal stakeholders in a timely manner to enable them to make well-informed decisions;
· Drafting and negotiating transaction documents (license agreements, sales agreements, services agreements, teaming agreements, cooperation agreements, purchase contracts, etc.), in cooperation with the other relevant departments; identifying risks arising from the transactions and proposing solutions to eliminate or minimise the risks,
· Supporting the project teams in the preparation phase of the national and international invitation to bid, in the appraisal of the terms and conditions of the Request For Proposal/Invitation To Tenders and of the draft contract,
· Identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation actions/solutions,
· For operational staff located in Europe or in any other legal entities overseas, providing advice on different areas of business law such as contract law, bank guarantees, IP law and government contracts (French and overseas), within the delays required by the transaction ;
· Negotiating contracts with customers, partners and suppliers in conjunction with the relevant teams,
· Providing support to management in the monitoring of subsidiaries related to Intelligence,
· Devising strategies in order to avoid litigations, and in the case of litigations, minimising the impact on the company,
· Contributing to developing the legal awareness of marketing, sales, customers services and commercial staff,
· Proactively contributing to the mitigation of Airbus Defence and Space's risks by issuing alerts concerning potential problems and proposing solutions so that the relevant decision can be made by management,
· Instructing and managing relationships with external legal advisors,
· Suggesting amendments and ameliorations of internal processes if required,
· In coordination with the other lawyers in the Airbus Defence and Space legal department, following and reporting on recent developments in national and international law,
· Drafting legal opinions to support Management decisions.
This role may involve business travel (4 times a year in Europe) and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
Required skills
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and expertise:
· Advanced Law degree or business law degree,
· 3 years of experience in private and public law, ideally in an international company and/or law firm,
· Knowledge of international public and private contract law,
· Excellent interpersonal skills,
· Autonomous but also team player,
· Methodical,
· Open-minded,
· Responsive and creative,
· A negotiation level of French and English.
