Description of the job

Airbus Defence and Space (Toulouse) is looking for an intern for a 5-6 month internship.

Airbus Defence and Space develops SYSTEMA, professional software to simulate the physical behaviour of satellites during their mission.
It allows modelling the entire satellite mission with regards to the satellite's geometry, materials, orbits, kinematics laws behaviours. SYSTEMA is widely used in the space environmental analysis community.
SYSTEMA provides with a competitive Graphical User Interface (GUI), to edit the whole mission, through analytical views and realistic 3D environments.

The goal of your internship is to analyse the existing GUI from an ergonomics point of view, recommend improvements and implement a selection of them.

This internship will start on 1st February 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks will include:

·  Analysing how users manipulate SYSTEMA (number of user actions required for a given use case, parts of the software most used, etc.) to identify the ergonomics problems,
·  Defining a survey to collect the user comments,
·  Proposing a new graphical interface on the sensitive parts of SYSTEMA,
·  Creating a mock-up and organising a presentation to the users,
·  Implementing, if possible, a selection of improvements the new interface into SYSTEMA.

You will have the opportunity to work with the SYSTEMA team and users, based on the agile (SCRUM) methodology.

Required skills

You are in the 2nd year of a Master's Degree or the 5th year of Engineering School specialising in Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent.
Alternatively you are in the 5th year of your studies in Ergonomics. You have good knowledge of Software Ergonomics as well as User-Interface design.

You ideally have experience / knowledge in programming in C++ (QT).

You are recognised for your creative and proactive way of working.

Furthermore you have a strong ability to analyse and synthesise a large amount of data and to propose appropriate solutions.

You are a good team player and and have excellent interpersonal skills.

English: Intermediate level,
