Description of the job

Airbus Defence and Space (Elancourt) is looking for an intern for a 6-month internship.

Your internship, "Radio communications/Signal processing" oriented, is proposed in the context of radio communication equipment development between several mobile terminals, using programmable waveforms (waveforms that can be changed by downloading new software/firmware) for customers in the defence domain.
The purpose of the internship will be to study the feasibility of an optimum receiver for quasi-constant envelope modulation and to simulate its implementation and performances taking into account the "radio programmable" architecture of the recent equipment.
Professional prospects will be considered for potential profiles

This internship will start on 27 March 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

Your missions will include 3 major phases:

·  Phase 1 (about 1 month):

o Have an expert knowledge of the context and its environment,
o Perform bibliographic research on optimum receivers of numerically modulated signals.

·  Phase 2 (about 3.5 months):

o Study and propose demodulation diagrams (optimal reception algorithms, synchronisation device (recovery of the symbol timing and of the carrier phase, …)),
o Model the blocks of the transmission chain using the waveform under Matlab/Simulink,
o Set up behavioural simulations and evaluate the performances of this optimum receiver (Matlab/Simulink),
o Take part in the implementation of some blocks in VHDL.

·  Phase 3 (about 0.5 months):

o Write the study report.
