Description of the job

Airbus Toulouse is looking for an intern for a 6-month internship.

This internship will start on 1st March 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

In this internship you will determine algorithms for multi-constraint optimization of aircraft manoeuvres on ground (during taxiway turns, intersection, U-Turns etc.) taking into account parameters such as wheel to taxiway edge clearance, alignment distances, necessary pavement area, manoeuvre time etc.

Your main tasks will include:

·  Modelling the trajectory of aircraft reference points during any type of turn
·  Modelling the effect of piloting inputs (steering angle and rate etc.)
·  Formulating the different constraints for a paved pattern (imposed or not)
·  Proposing solving methods for best manoeuvre determination
·  Studying the influence of the piloting strategies on resulting performance and assessing their acceptability from an operational view point
·  Determining aircraft drivers for better manoeuvrability

Required skills

You are in the 2nd year of a Master's degree or in the 5th year of an engineering school or university or equivalent specialising in Aerospace Engineering.

You have a strong mathematical background and you are passionate about developing algorithms.
Ideally, you possess knowledge of the configuration of an aircraft and have worked with MATLAB in the past.

You are recognised for your autonomous and solution-oriented way of working. Furthermore you are able to propose solutions and to adapt to different environments. You enjoy working and integrating into a team.
