Description of the job

Airbus Safran Launchers (Les Mureaux) is looking for an intern for a 6-month internship.

Airbus Safran Launchers is prime contractor for the development and production of military and civil launch vehicles and also offers many associated services and derived products. Currently, the growing number of satellites in orbit makes better control of ground observation equipment essential.

In this context, Airbus Safran Launchers is developing optical systems dedicated to the observation of space objects (satellites, debris, etc.) and is also interested in the issue of airspace observation. Observing objects in airspace requires a combination of cutting-edge optical technologies and advanced image processing skills.

In this capacity, you will join the Navigation Sensors and Image Processing team and will be responsible for implementing algorithms controlling a camera system to be used for various applications such as moving target tracking or robotics.

This internship will start on 2nd January 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks will include:

·  Familiarising yourself with the existing work after a brief bibliography on the topic
·  Learning to use the available equipment: cameras, turntable, AutoBox-dSPACE
·  Implementing a target detection and tracking algorithm on a real-time target
·  Testing the added functionalities in collaboration with other technical sectors
·  Producing a summary of results obtained and achievable performance.

Required skills

You are in the final year of engineering school, completing a Master's degree or in the 5th year of university, specialising in Systems Engineering.

You have skills in:

·  C
·  C++
·  Matlab
·  Simulink
·  Python
·  dSpace
·  OpenCV.

You have the following qualities:

·  Dynamic
·  Curious
·  Taste for innovation
·  Motivated.

You ideally have some initial experience.

Some initial experience or academic courses in optics and/or image processing would be a plus.

You are a good team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.

English: advanced level
French: fluent.
