Description of the job

An internship position in mechanical engineering: New concepts for assembly tools in the final assembly line A330 has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse. You will join the Engineering Final Assembly Processes department.

In Final Assembly Line (FAL), we use temporary fasteners to maintain a correct assembly of aircraft parts during the assembly process. These temporary fasteners are installed with specific screwdrivers. These screwdrivers are currently pneumatic machines, and their technology requires one kind of screwdriver per fastener diameter. In the scope of a future replacement of these screwdrivers, we would like to evaluate and test screwdrivers of new technology, and in particular the use of electrical screwdrivers: electrical energy + ability to screw fixations of different diameters + servo-control management.

The aim of the internship are :

·  To test prototypes of new generation for temporary fixations screwdrivers: test in laboratory and then on FAL station
·  To conduct a comparative study of the different solutions: technologies, pros and cons
·  To build a comparative business case between the different solutions, taking into account a new technology of temporary fastener currently studied.

This internship will start in February 2017 (subject to some flexibility).
