Description de l'offre

Internship in Early Development of Aerodynamics Methodologies (m/f)

Airbus Toulouse

Airbus Group is a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services. In 2015, the Group - comprising Airbus, Airbus Defence and Space and Airbus Helicopters - generated revenues of € 64.5 billion and employed a workforce of around 136,600.

Our people work with passion and determination to make the world a more connected, safer and smarter place. Taking pride in our work, we draw on each other's expertise and experience to achieve excellence. Our diversity and teamwork culture propel us to accomplish the extraordinary - on the ground, in the sky and in space.

Description of the job

Airbus Toulouse is looking for an intern (m/f) for a 6-month internship.

This internship will start on 1st March 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Within the Airbus Aerodynamic Domain, the "Aero Data for Handling Qualities" group is in charge of evaluating the aerodynamic characteristics of all the Airbus aircraft and elaborating suitable modelling so that Aircraft behaviour can be simulated for:

·  Flight control laws tuning
·  Compliance to Safety & Certification requirements
·  Supplying Training Flight Simulators, etc.

The aerodynamic characterisation of the Aircraft relies on the use of several means & tools such as Wind Tunnel Tests, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Semi Empirical Methods, Flight Tests results, etc. These tools have various fields of use, different range of validity or specific application constraints. The use of these tools is then combined in the context of the Aerodynamic Data elaboration process to overcome their limitations & provide an accurate view of Aircraft aerodynamic well before the first flight.
The Aerodynamic Data process is calibrated for application on conventional aircraft configurations as represented within the Airbus family. But in the context of future project studies, some unusual aircraft configurations are under study with the objective to provide Airbus with a distinctive advantage over competition.

The "Aero Data for Handling Qualities" mission in this context is still to provide a good overview of Aircraft aerodynamics but rather than fine tuning the configuration, the aim will be more focused on identification of sizing cases criteria. The final objective being to assess the viability of the configuration and to provide design drivers.

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

You will be responsible for developing Aero Data Processes suited to this Aircraft early design phase with a particular focus on:

·  Rapidity: fast answer requested for evaluation of numerous Aircraft concepts,
·  Flexibility and modularity: possibility to perform aerodynamic evaluation of exotic concepts,
·  Accuracy and consistency: data must be representative enough for a proper evaluation of sizing case, but accuracy can be challenged to ensure a rapid process.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

You are in the 2nd year of a Master's degree or in the 5th year of engineering school or university, specialising in Aerospace Engineering.

You ideally have initial experience in this field.

A good knowledge of Aerodynamics would be a plus.

You are recognised for your autonomy, your sense of initiative and analysis and your constructive curiosity.
You are a good team player and have good interpersonal & communication skills.

English: negotiation level.
Knowledge of French would be a plus.

Faire de chaque avenir une réussite.
