Airbus Group is a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services. In 2015, the Group - comprising Airbus, Airbus Defence and Space and Airbus Helicopters - generated revenues of € 64.5 billion and employed a workforce of around 136,600.
Our people work with passion and determination to make the world a more connected, safer and smarter place. Taking pride in our work, we draw on each other's expertise and experience to achieve excellence. Our diversity and teamwork culture propel us to accomplish the extraordinary - on the ground, in the sky and in space.
Description of the job
Airbus Safran Launchers (Les Mureaux) is looking for an intern (m/f) for a 6-month internship.
You will work on the performance assessment of the hydraulic actuators for the control of the new European ARIANE 6 launcher.
You will work on the development of the servocontrol of the launcher main stage. This hydraulic servocontrol is used to steer the VULCAIN cryogenic engine (and therefore thrust) according to the pilot's instructions (flight control) in order to control the launcher attitude in flight.
In addition to its hydraulic actuators, the servocontrol surface is made up of other sub-systems modelled on the basis of several distinct scientific disciplines (electrical engineering, automation, mechanics, etc.): Thermal Battery power supply, motor pump hydraulic generation, control electronics, cable harnesses or hydraulic hoses.
This internship will start on 1st February 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities
Your main mission will be to analyse the performance of this hydraulic servocontrol surface chain from the different models established throughout the internship. In particular, two types of modelling are compared: a behavioural model of the system coded under Matlab-Simulink and physical modelling to be implemented under SimScape.
The performance study will cover transient aspect of the steady state as well as some downgraded cases (behaviour of the system in case of failure). You may therefore be required, depending on the case, to adapt the system modelling level to provide the best information on the performance on the time scale considered. The various life cycles of the system will also be covered.
Required skills
You are in the final year of engineering school, completing a Master's degree or at university (5th year), specialising in aeronautics, automation, electrical or hydraulic engineering.
Ideally, you have initial work experience.
You must be a citizen of the European Community (being eligible to confidential security clearance would be a plus).
You are a good team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.
English: intermediate level,
French: fluent level.
