Description of the job

Airbus (Saint-Martin) is looking for an intern for a 6-month internship. This internship will start in March / April 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

The intern will work within the Flight & Integration Test Center in strong collaboration with the Systems and Aerodynamics Design Offices.

Tasks & accountabilities

In the frame of an aircraft's certification campaign, natural icing flight tests are performed.

Specific instrumentation is used in flight test to monitor the icing conditions encountered and ice accretion on the aircraft. Inconsistencies between theoretical and observed ice accretion can occur depending on the type of icing conditions encountered.

·  Understanding and characterizing such inconsistencies is needed to better interpret the collected data, and better understand the test conditions.
·  Modeling the ice accretion observed on test instrumentation, in correlation with flight test data will allow improving and expanding the theoretical ice accretion charts currently used for certifications activities.
·  Correlation of icing conditions and other aircraft systems will also be explored.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  You are in the last year of a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering with good knowledge of Data Analysis Techniques, Modelling and Fluid Dynamics.
·  You have proven experience in Data Analysis.
·  Experience with Matlab and Fluent would be appreciated.
·  Meteorological knowledge would be a plus.
·  Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel).
·  You are curious and proactive and have excellent interpersonal skills.
·  You have a negotiation level in French and advanced level in English.
