INTERNSHIP - FLIGHT CONTROLS - ALTITUDE KEEPING IN AUTO-PILOT (m/f)

Airbus Toulouse

Airbus Group is a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services. In 2015, the Group - comprising Airbus, Airbus Defence and Space and Airbus Helicopters - generated revenues of € 64.5 billion and employed a workforce of around 136,600.

Description of the job

An internship position in flight controls has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse. You will join the Aircraft Control Architecture & Functions department.

The Flight Control System (FCS) of an aircraft is primarily used to control its trajectory, attitude and speed. It consists of all the elements located between the pilot inputs (in the cockpit) and the control surfaces (e.g. ailerons, elevators…), including sensors, wires, actuators and flight control computer. To decrease the pilot workload, the Auto-Pilot is generally engaged to maintain the altitude, speed and heading, especially during the cruise phase. Under some circumstances, slight deviations from altitude, speed or heading targets may occur. It is suitable to detect this situation in order to recover a nominal trajectory, i.e. to limit excursions within acceptable bounds, according to applicable certification requirements.

This internship will start in February 2017 (subject to some flexibility).
