Description of the job

An internship position in environmental analysis of systems equipment has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse. You will join the Mechanical standard parts department. This department is in charge of managing equipment design vs Environmental regulations (forbidden material, recycling requests, etc…).

This internship will start in February 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

Your mission will be to:
1) Resume and complete the mapping of systems and pieces of equipment within the systems engineering & landing gear Centres of Competence (begun during a former project)
o Objective: Having the full view of pieces of equipment “managed” within Systems Engineering and Landing Gear in order to better and rapidly perform impact analysis of new environmental regulations
o Deliveries:
# - Mapping by ATA/families (Landing gears, computers, batteries, actuators, pumps, …) for A350XWB
# - Define high level models of each type: main components and typical materials used: metals, composites, electronic cards, …
# - Define a way to gather materials composing the equipment from the supplier when it is missing

2) Ensure analysis for recycling possibilities concerning the different pieces of equipment delivered by Systems Engineering and Landing Gear to the aircraft
o Input: mapping from 1
o Outputs :

·  As-Is situation of the recycling possibilities at the end of life for some families of systems # - Analysis of the regulatory context about equipment end of life
# - Selection of families of equipment which could be recycled (according to materials used in the equipment)
# - Assessment of the amount of materials which could be recycled
# - Inventory of companies which could recycle the families of equipment selected
# - Assessment of the business cases

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  in the 2nd year of a Master's degree or in the 5th year of a university or engineering school with major in material sciences
·  Basic knowledge of material
·  Good MS Office skills (especially MS Excel)
·  Knowledge of aircraft equipment would be beneficial
·  Good communication skills, autonomous way of working and persistence
·  English: negotiation level; Knowledge of French would be a plus
