Description of the job

A vacancy for an internship in End of Engineering Studies in Flight Quality (m/f) has arisen within Airbus (Commercial Aircraft) in Toulouse.
You will join the Flight Quality department within the Systems department.
The team's mission includes: Sizing of the control surfaces and requirements definition for systems related to A/C control, Definition of A/C flight domain and characteristic speeds and Validation of A/C Handling Qualities including Systems Failure case evaluation & classification (with Flight test teams).
This internship will start on 4th September 2017 (date subject to some flexibility) and is for a duration of 6 months.

Tasks & accountabilities

The successful applicant will perform the following activities:

·  Complete a Handling Qualities (HQ) survey of different Airbus aircraft (SA/LR/A350/A380…), with an all-new toolset to support possible future aircraft developments.
·  Capture differences vs traditional analysis methods, including evolutions in design assumptions, flight control technology and certification criteria.
·  Compare results with existing aircraft data, and investigate future incremental design improvements and potentially novel aircraft configurations.

·  Learn about the Airbus design process, HQ sizing criteria and safety margins developed between design office, Flight Test and real in-service experience.
·  Understand how pilots cope with potential system failures, and how the designer can maximise aircraft safety in various scenarios.
·  Gain inside knowledge about various Airbus aircraft, the design teams and cutting-edge tool development

Required skills

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to a degree level (Master's degree, 5-year degree), ideally specialising in Aerospace.
·  Initial experience within this field would be a plus
·  You are a good team player and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
·  English and French: at least an intermediate level.
