Description of the job

Airbus Defence and Space (Toulouse) is looking for an intern for a 6 month internship.

Our department Electric Propulsion MSC (Major Spacecraft Component) is in charge of electric propulsion subsystems for satellites in orbit (Leo, Geo ...).
We perform the design of subsystems and define the specifications of all equipment. We are responsible for the tests and the flight monitoring.

You will perform engineering activities related to In-flight return on the Electric Propulsion sub-system.
You will join the Electric Propulsion department, in the Telecom Satellites Business Unit.

This internship will start on 1st February 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

You will analyse the in-flight data in order:

·  To better understand the thruster behavior during in-flight operations,
·  To propose an equivalent model - based on simulation or on correlation with in-flight observables - for performance prediction,
·  To raise trends prediction based on behavior understanding,
·  To issue Operational Recommendation with respect to the Thruster maintenance operational aspects.

You may interface with other architects in various areas (mechanical, thermal, electrical, functional, and modelling) and Operations Department.

Required skills

You are in the 2nd year of a master's or the 5th year of business school, university or equivalent specializing Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics or Electrotechnics, Hyperfrequency or Powerplant Propulsion, Combustion or Systems Enginerring.

You ideally have an initial experience in this domain and you have knowledge in various fields of Physics as Fluidic, Electricity/Electronics, Automatics, Electric propulsion, Data processing, Applied Mathematics.

You have the ability to use tools like Microsoft Excel, Matlab/Simulink or equivalent.

You are rigorous and you have synthesis skills.
You are a strong team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.

English: advanced level,
French: negotiation level.
