Description of the job

Airbus Safran Launchers (Les Mureaux) is looking for an intern for a 5-month internship.

In addition to the technical work of designing space launch vehicles, a significant part of the work of every engineer consists in writing numerous technical documents with a very high level of quality required (strict formal compliance, standardised content, etc.) and the associated cost is therefore high.

For your internship, your objective will be to industrialise a prototype automatic management tool for the acronyms/abbreviations found in the technical documents written in Word within the company.

This internship will give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with Airbus Safran Launchers development methodology for critical on-board software for launch vehicles and with the processes and standards of the European Space Agency. You will also acquire an overall understanding of the organisation of a company like Airbus Safran Launchers and issues related to the daily work of an engineer.

This internship will start on 1st February 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks will include:

·  Improving maintainability of the software, particularly by overhauling the architecture of the existing tool to create a more modular version opening up the tool to new upgrades (additional functions)
·  Working on transcoding from VBA to C++ (e.g. in Visual Studio) to make it possible to deploy the tool on every computer in the company
·  Working on the software's graphical user interface to try and improve its ergonomics
·  Producing documentation for the tool (specification, test plan, validation tests) to provide for its subsequent maintenance.

Required skills

You are in the 1st year of a Master's degree or in the 4th year of an engineering school or university, specialising in IT/Software.

You ideally have some initial experience.

You have the following skills:

·  Object-oriented programming
·  C/C++
·  Visual Studio.

We would appreciate candidates who have previously developed Word/Excel COM add-ins and who have knowledge of database technologies (C#, VB.NET, VBA).

You are a good team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.

English: intermediate level
French: fluent.
